I received a complimentary copy of This House Needs A Mouse. All delightful literary opinions are 100% my own.
One of my favorite things to do with my kids is read to them. I especially cherish story time before bedtime. It's a tradition that I have been staunch about keeping alive, even now that my oldest is nearing 11 years old. She still looks forward to it....and I love that.
I had the chance to receive an advance copy of a beautifully illustrated children's book with a difference, This House Needs A Mouse by C. Jeffrey Nunnally. It is a fun, whimsical tale of a mouse who seeks a life outside of his caged existence, and through a series of events, finds himself free and experiencing life with all its ups and downs. It's not just a read-along for your child, this book aimed at 3 to 8 year olds, is a teaching tool for budding readers and writers. Filled with mentor text such as alliteration, vivid verbs and purposeful repetition to name a few, This House Needs A Mouse is educational and delightful.
It's a heartwarming story, although I think the author emphasizes the "ordinary" family a bit too much (albeit part of the repetitive nature of the writing for young readers). One of my favorite parts of the book is the carefree illustrations of Tamara Brink. It's one of those go-to books that you will want in your child's collection.
It is without question that every Christmas, books are definitely under the tree for my children. They love receiving books. That warms my heart! With the holidays just round the corner, this book is a great gift choice!
I am giving away one copy to my readers!! It will make a perfect gift for your little one, so be sure to enter below.
