Books have always been an important and vital part of bringing up my children. I have read to them since they were infants. Books also were "toys" when they were toddlers, and I loved watching them just sit and be perfectly content surrounded by a pile of books.
I've had the chance to experience a subscription from a great new company, Zoobean. Their service is different from other popular monthly subscriptions; parents, educators, even librarians personally curate the selections you receive for your child. In other words, your books are chosen by people who honestly care about literacy for kids. By entering your child's age, likes and dislikes, and other interests, your subscription to Zoobean becomes instantly personalized and catered to exactly what your child will like.
As a bonus, you also get great app suggestions and child-relevant article suggestions on their website.
I think what I love most about the Zoobean service is that you receive books that are not main stream. They're a welcome surprise in my mailbox every month. My first book for my 5 year old was A Trip To The Bottom of the World With Mouse, by Frank Viva. With it's vivid and modern art work and comic-style format, my son loves it and it also has simple phrases that he reads as we enjoy the book together. My older children also love reading the book to my youngest (which is always a good sign!).
This blog post goes live on the cusp of Zoobean being featured on the popular show Shark Tank! To commemorate this exciting event, I'm hosting a fun giveaway of their service. Yep, up for grabs is a 3 month hardback book subscription to Zoobean! You can also join in on the fun tonight during the show (it airs at 9pm EST, 8pm CST, and 9pm PST) with the hashtags: #zoobean #zbinthetank Join me on Twitter!
